we've been staying super busy this summer...and it's only june!
we went camping last weekend in Sequoia National Park at the very serene Hume Lake. it was gorgeous - pine trees, tall redwoods, glass lake...snow capped mountains...yes, i said snow. it was sunny and warm outside, but in the high elevations the mountains were still covered and the lake was actually really cold! needless to say we didn't spend much time in the water. we brought the dogs with us on this trip, something we haven't done since having kids, and it went really well. but, having dogs and kids in both hands meant that i didn't have a free hand to take pictures. so, sorry everyone, but no pictures of this camping trip.
the kids participated in VBS (vacation bible school) a couple weeks ago. they had a great time singing songs, doing crafts, learning bible stories, and playing outside in the bounce house/games area. i stayed with grady's class as a "just in case" since he was the youngest one there. and good thing since it started out a little rough for him as the huge crowd of kids and performers on stage were too overwhelming for him. but after the second day he was "kind of" singing the songs and doing some hand motions and having fun. both boys were half asleep for the car ride home from such busy mornings all week.
we bought our water park passes again this summer. we've already been a few times and one of these days i'll bring the camera. both kids are zipping down the slides, running under fountains...it's a bit more work this year making sure they're staying safe in the water.
speaking of water, colton started swim lessons this month and is doing fantastic! today he was able to float on his back by himself for 34 seconds. he's swimming short distances underwater, and i'm really hopeful that after another round of lessons he'll be swimming on his own.
grady starts his mommy&me swim class tomorrow, he's super excited to finally have his "lessons".
shaun's garden is exploding, everyday i plan to get out to take pictures, but next thing i know i'm going to bed and have totally forgotten. his sunflowers are over 6 feet high and fully blossomed, he's been overloading my veggie drawer with fresh cut zuchinni, and soon enough we'll have tomatoes coming out of our ears.
hope your start of summer is going well too!
