Elephant Seals 11/27

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! hope you stuffed yourself with turkey and cranberry sauce. we've been eating leftovers for every meal since!

This is has been a GREAT Thanksgiving week. Shaun took Wed-Sun off, so we've been able to have tons of family time!

On Friday we took Hijack (our black dog) to the dog beach to let him burn off some energy. From there we drove north 20 minutes to a beach at the bottom of Big Sur where hundreds of Elephant Seals make their home.

Depending on the month you visit, the seals might be fighting, mating, birthing or nursing. During our visit they seemed to mostly be sleeping! there were some young males fighting, but not as we have seen in the past. the kids really enjoyed watching the seals - especially grady, he seems to have an extra special fondness for animals right now.

colton is pretending to be a seal!

it was super windy! shaun had to hang on tight or the boys would blow away!

we saw this on the way home from the elephant seals. if you zoom in a few times on this picture, there are zebra's mixed in with the cows. these zebras are current generations of the zebras freed from a zillionaire many years ago that now just wander San Simeon Beach area.
