I took the boys grocery shopping today - nothing out of the norm. at the checkout, after unloading, i tried to grab my wallet only to realize it was nowhere in sight. the kids often throw things from the cart, and i'm constantly picking it up, so i did a quick sweep (45 minutes!) of the store with no luck. i was at a complete loss, so i reported it missing. i figured i would get a call by the time i got home.
at home, i checked online just to confirm that my accounts were still safe...boy was a wrong!
within 30 mins of my wallet missing there were already 3 purchases at various gas stations nearby! i called all my banks and cancelled every single card. thank goodness for bank protection, i'm not liable for any of it.
it's hard not to feel violated. my wallet, my cards, my license...at the very least they're all replaceable.
