Maslyn's Birth Story ~ Oct 29, 2011

7am
We went in to French Hospital on Sat morning (10/29) for the induction.  We got a nice tour of my room, filled out some paper work, got situated, had breakfast, then waited.  My Dr. was supposed to be there by 8am, but she got delayed and didn't show until 930.  no worries, my mom brought some origami sheets, so shaun and i killed some time folding origami dinosaurs.

930am
Dr. broke my water.  i got a little woozy, but a cool rag on my forehead brought my blood pressure back to normal.  the nurse kept me on the monitor for a little while just to make sure every thing was ok.

1030am
some mild contractions, every 5-8 mins, worked on some more dinosaur origami.

11am
it was a gorgeous sunny day.  we decided to take a walk outside around the hospital grounds to get contractions moving.  imagine walking outside in a hospital robe, yeah, i drew a little attention.  a few older ladies driving by said sweet encouraging words "i've been there, you'll do fine", "good luck"...that kind of stuff.  we walked a 1/2 mile, all the while having contractions 5 mins apart.

1130am
back inside the hospital room to be monitored again. (and for lunch, although i passed up on eating so shaun ate most of it)  baby was still looking good, so we decided to go back out for another walk.

12pm
began to walk around hospital grounds again, but didn't make it very far, as soon as we got outside the door, my contractions came on full force.  1 minute apart i was stopping at things i could lean on.  i knew right away there was no way i'd make it around the walk, so we cut in through the back door and buzzed a nurse.

1230
she checked me and i was at 6cm. i went into transition and was nauseous.
nope, he's not the nurse, just my super husband!

1pm
contracts were intense, i didn't want to lay in the bed, so i got up to try and walk around the room

1:15pm
my dr. kicked me out of the bathroom, she didn't think the baby should be born in the lavatory.  she and shaun walked me back to the bed.

1:24pm
started pushing

1:31pm
Maslyn was born!

Thanks for sharing Maslyn's birth story. I'm extremely jealous that you only had to push for 7 minutes!
